As I exited the subway en route to my office, I noticed two things. One, they are tearing apart the Dept. of Transportation building. I don't know why, it was rather well kept (at least externally) and fairly modern. Two, as a perfect representation of the Washington, DC labor practice of cheap workers = cheap results, a wonderful warning was spray painted on the path leaving the subway exit. I snapped a photo for you. Enjoy. I also took a photo of the area in the middle of the building grounds. Once full of life with fountains and trees and people, now it holds the rubble of what happens when construction destruction plows over all that stands.

Greetings from Defcon 15 in Las Vegas, NV!
I've been here since Thursday, it is Sunday night, and I'm leaving tomorrow morning. It has been rather uneventful, except for the Dateline NBC reporter getting the boot during a Friday morning track. Great entertainment.
The photo is from this evening, taken outside my window overlooking the Riviera's pool. As the geeks leave Defcon, the jocks are arriving for the TKE Conclave. Frat boys versus geeks. Straight from Revenge of the Nerds. This photo shows the Defcon stragglers (in black, of course) on one side as the fraternity kids (red shirts) begin their arrival. SO many pink polo shirts with popped collars inside the hotel... very disturbing.
Each year there are way more people. It is nearly unbearable for a person such as myself. I miss the smaller turnout. There is Chaos Communication Congress (CCC) in Germany, which is a smaller hacker gathering. Timed conveniently between Christmas and New Years, travel would be a bitch. But from what I've heard, it is great fun.
