Friday night I saw "Lost in Translation" at the largest theater I've ever been in. Crazy big. The Loews Cineplex in Georgetown (K St. NW). My friend Kim works at a law firm near there so she knew how to get around. Just when I start to think I've mastered navigating around DC I land in the middle of an area that causes me to fall into a disoriented frazzle. Anyway. The movie was excellent. If you haven't seen it you should. Now. It's funny because Jon just sent me an email telling me to go see it. And I already did. I think he knows me too well. Creepy.

I'm going back to Maine this weekend! My plan is to drive up after work on Thursday and stay until Monday. I was going to fly up and drive back a rental because I need to get a lot of stuff. I scrapped that plan when I found out it costs $1,500,060 to drop off a rental car from a place different from where you picked it up. Damn whores. So I got new tires yesterday (ref. past post: screw) and I'm ready for the trip. I love fall. So I'll get to do some leaf peeping. There is something magical about New England that I miss dearly. Albeit the memories of some places are followed by an assortment of feelings, it will always be home and hopefully it will always make me happy. Speaking of magic - how about that crazy Roy Horn!

After a nice long weekend back in Maine, last night I returned to DC. I brought a lot of stuff back with me too. More amps & guitars & organs & computers & blah blah blah. I'm currently trying to make everything fit in the apartment without compromising the delicate Feng Shui. Sophie hates chaos. It makes her so angry, she just walks into things and mutters under her breath. Crazy cat.

I hate New Jersey. It is as useless as Florida. The only thing NJ has to offer is a view of New York City and a steady stream of crime and smog. People drive fast in the slow lane and slow in the fast lane. Their license plates are tacky and English is the 6th most popular language, right behind some odd sound created before belching and that strange clicky noise one makes when trying to emulate a gulp. There is more concrete than grass. New Jersey just sucks. Ever notice that it cost $6 to cross the George Washington Bridge into NYC, but it is free to cross towards Fort Lee, NJ? Yeah. That's on purpose.

I only wish I could have visited more of my friends, and for a longer period of time. Next time I'll be home will be around Christmas. Until then, I need to speed up my plans on taking over the world. I'm only 1/3 into the schematics and time is running out!!

I was just thinking. I get about 50 spam emails per day on one of my personal accounts. Half are for penis enlargement miracle drugs and many others are for sexual stamina drugs. Now, each enlargement claim is that I can add 2-3 inches to the length of my, ehem, "member." If this is true, and I try each different product offered to me, would that cause a redundant growth factor of 2.5 inches per product, along with a 48 hour stamina rate? Things could get scary.

One good thing about my job here is that I actually can make a difference. I realized that while browsing the news online today. Part of my job is to help make sure the new systems designed to catch things like this are secure from, as my friend Dave would say, ethically challenged programmers. In fact I'll be in Baltimore next week at a Northrop Grumman facility where they are currently developing a very cool system designed to keep bad things out of your mail. Then in a few weeks I'll be in Chicago. I'm gonna try to get a business trip to Denmark as well, since we have a vendor there. Although the chances of that getting approved are slim. Shucks.

This weekend is email catch-up day so if you haven't heard from me in a while you will. I also plan to complete the Photography section of this site, if I can get motivated.

I finally setup the recording studio in my new crib! It's rather cozy. Not quite as inspirational as the old farmhouse up in West Bath, Maine - but comfortable and easy to work in. I can't sleep so after giving up on this program I'm writing to make use of my new terrabyte storage array and, um, many many DVDs... I turned to my music equipment and started-a-wirin'!! It sounds great, and I've started laying down some track already. Definately trying some different things. Once I sell more blood and organs I'm getting a better video recorder so I can make the movies for my stage show (projected, side screen). I can't believe I'm finally getting this started.

I think my new doctor may end up being the Asian guy who put DICK Cheney's pacemaker in. He seems competent, and willing to take me on. Today I've been feeling a sense of urgency to get checked out. I've been feeling a few major drops in my pulse rate and blood pressure. Just a little scary at times, but nothing major.

Oh yeah - for those who have been asking, no, the girl at the Subway sammich store never called back. For my ego's sake, I'm going to assume she was run over by a tractor or eaten by squirrels. However! There's still hope for this eager young man before you. I met this young lady who works as a contracter on one of our projects in the Ballston, VA office. She looks a little like Am?lie and is very nice. Hopefully she calls or writes. Maybe I'll bug her first, before I lose this streak of courage... which hasn't been paying any handsome divids as of yet. _sigh_

Ok I have to go to work in a few hours so I should get some sleep. Wish me luck.
